[Intro]
[verse]
I heard in the far polar nights,
A shadow of deep, sorrowed blue.
The glaciers are weeping in sighs,
As icebergs are breaking in two.
The tears frozen deep in the past,
Are drifting away on the tide.
The shores and the city lights flash,
With worries we no longer hide.
Here in the city we stay,
Through windows all covered in mist.
Can we reach our hands far away,
To heal what we cannot forget?
Turn off the standby green light,
Leave room for the fridge to breathe cold.
Local greens on our plates for tonight,
Old sweaters feel new when re-rolled.
A one-kilometer walk,
A quiet talk with the earth.
On a YouBike, we pedal and mock
The worries, and give dreams their birth.
That’s eight point six tons of our grace,
A poem we write for tomorrow.
The choices we check on the slate,
To wash away nature’s deep sorrow.
Seven hundred fifteen young trees,
Are growing green leaves in our mind.
[chorus]
Every small step in the breeze,
Is the most beautiful thing we can find.
In food, clothes, and where we roam,
We learn how to shield and defend.
We’ll bring back the glacier-blue home,
And give it a beautiful end.
[verse]
The school bell rings out in the air,
Smart cooling protects children’s dreams.
Green roofs on the campus up there,
Are catching the sun's golden beams.
Together we sign on the screen,
A promise to make things go right.
Let policy shield like a cloak,
And lead us from dark into light.
The carbon fee steps may feel slow,
A heavy but necessary stride.
We carry the burden below,
So children can walk with more pride.
Don’t fear that our strength is too small,
When plastic-free bags hold our care.
When choices of citizens call,
A river of change we will share.
The tundra far off in the cold,
Will finally stand and feel brave.
Oh listen, the ocean untold,
Is clearing up wave after wave.
That’s eight point six tons of our grace,
A poem we write for tomorrow.
The choices we check on the slate,
To wash away nature’s deep sorrow.
Seven hundred fifteen young trees,
Are growing green leaves in our mind.
[chorus]
Every small step in the breeze,
Is the most beautiful thing we can find.
In food, clothes, and where we roam,
We learn how to shield and defend.
We’ll bring back the glacier-blue home,
And give it a beautiful end.
Turn off a light in the dark,
Light up a star in the sky.
[verse]
Hand in hand, we will embark,
As family, we'll try and we'll fly.
For the snow in the north and the south,
For the ice where the cold winds blow.
This is the word from our mouth,
The green promise we keep as we go...
